Didn’t get a good chance to post anything ’cause all the latest releases were released during school time! Anyways, PUKKA has released an R5 of the movie Man of the Year which should be fun. First of all it’s got Robin Williams, so the movie is already 50% worth watching just because of that. Second of all it’s about Robin Williams becoming the president of the USA! I bet there’s some reference to Bush’s screw ups in here as well as a lot of other political errors throughout history. (Hitler anyone?) Just check out the trailer and you’ll immediately find out whether you’ll like it or not!

Ouch, this is a really decent movie spree! Another really nice dvd screener from HLS, already available at NewTorrents, way sooner than at TL/FL/TB and other private trackers, not talking about public ones. A pretty new release format R5 (I think this is just a second release from this source) is already celebrating a decent success. The quality of movies including this magic R5 combination in the name is more than better – it can be clearly compared to best dvdrips. I’ve copied an explanation of this format from one scene NFO for you, as I think that many people still don’t have a clue what’s that.

A grizzly bear named Boog, domesticated by a park ranger, Beth, helps deer friend Elliot escape from the mullet-sporting hunter, Shaw. When the animals escape to the forest the pair become lost just as hunting season begins, made worse by the fact Boog doesn’t know how to survive outside of his beloved ranch. Elliott and Boog develop a strong bond not only between themselves but also with the wild animals and attempt to drive the hunters out of the forest.

Note on R5/TC’s

Over the past 6 months the major movie studios have been releasing
retail dvds early in Russia. They do this to stop the widespread
use of pirated telecines (which were once very common). Lately
however there has been very few real telecines, most of the scene
telecines you see are actually R5 retails.
R5 retail is rushed out by the studio, they are basically competing
with pirates, so there is little to no cleanup of the film after the
telecine process. So the main difference between telecines put out
by the pirates is that the r5’s are done using pro equipment,
professional studios and professional people. The quality of R5
retail is very similar to dvdscr’s, no time is usually spent cleaning
up dvdscrs either.

The range of quality we now have is like this.
R1/2 retail > DVDSCR > R5 Retail > Telecine > Telesync > Cam.
Vhs scr and wps, come around the ts mark (obviously differs
between rls).

Another “more than awesome” asian movie has leaked into european and american waters. The Host or “Gwoemul” in the original name is a really emotional mixture of almost all movie genres, from thriller to romantic comedy, and from sci-fi to fantasy. The IMDB rating of 7.5/10 isn’t obviously casual – the reviewers are also amazed from this work and it totally won box office numbers in Korea few weeks ago. Try it, you will not regret it…

There have been an abundance of monster movies over the years, where some kind of horribly mutated creature emerges from the depths to wreak havoc on a terrified city, that viewers familiar with the genre may feel that it has no more surprises up its sleeve. Well, prepare to be surprised by The Host, a movie which inventively re-configures the genre.

Gang-du (Song Kang-ho) works at a food-stand on the banks of the Han River. Dozing on the job, he is awakened by his daughter, Hyun-seo ( Ah-sung Ko), who is angry with him for missing a teacher-parent meeting at school. As Gang-du walks out to the riverbank with a delivery, he notices that a large crowd of people has gathered, taking pictures and talking about something hanging from the Han River Bridge. The otherwise idyllic landscape turns suddenly to bedlam when a terrifying creature climbs up onto the riverbank and begins to crush and eat people. Gang-du and his daughter run for their lives but suddenly the thing grabs Hyun-seo and disappears back into the river. The government announces that the thing apparently is the Host of an unidentified virus. Having feared the worst, Gang-du receives a phone call from his daughter who is frightened, but very much alive. Gang-du makes plans to infiltrate the forbidden zone near the Han River to rescue his daughter from the clutches of the horrifying Host…

Microsoft, the American software group headed by Bill Gates, will release its Windows Vista and Office 2007 products to business users today, after a two-year delay. The software, which has been developed at an estimated cost of $7 billion (£3.6 billion), is the first update of the Windows operating system since 2001. The consumer version of Vista is expected to be released in January and, like its business counterpart, will include improved features in areas such as security and searching. Analysts have suggested that Office 2007 could prove to be the more important product for Microsoft. The software suite will compete with rival web-based systems such as Google’s word-processor and spreadsheet utilities.

Together, Windows and Office account for the lion’s share of Microsoft profits, but Microsoft has suggested that the new products’ initial contributions to revenue growth will be modest. The company expects revenues for 2007 to grow at between 13 and 15 per cent year-on-year, compared with the 11 per cent increase in 2006. Well may be the revenues will not grow so fast, as there are fully working pirated versions of Windows Vista floating on the net for more than week .
