Fine tuning of XboX 360

Case modders have now started doing their magic on the Xbox 360, and here’s one guy who put the Microsoft gaming machine’s innards into a clear plastic box, lit it up with neon and improved its ventilation, too. There are some nice pictures at official XboX forum, and I can say it looks really cool, much better than casual design. Although the modder used twice bigger case, the originality is on the first place here…

Anyway, there’s no use for 2 GB of RAM in normal office computer, only these top gamers will see some benefits…

AOL launching free AIM phone service

America Online is planning to launch by the end of the month AIM Phoneline, a free service that will let AOL Instant Messenger users receive incoming calls from any phone, an AOL spokeswoman said Thursday. Voice over instant messaging is built into AIM, Google Talk, Yahoo Messenger and MSN Messenger, but AIM Phoneline would be the first to offer a free phone number. Those services compete with the popular net telephone provider Skype, which was acquired by eBay last year.Users will be able to pay $14.95 a month to upgrade to AIM Phoneline Unlimited, which would allow them to make calls to any number in the U.S. and 30 other countries, the spokeswoman said.

AOL, a division of Time Warner, also plans to launch later this month a blogging service called AIM Pages that will alert people when contacts in their buddy list update their AIM Pages blogs, the representative said. Anyway, I’m still satisfied user of SkypeOut, which works pretty good for me…

Transamerica dvdrip by Diamond

A popular release group Diamond published another nice dvdrip – this time, it’s quite a good mixture of drama and comedy called “Transamerica”. Diamonds choose standard 1 CD, although this movie has 104 minutes and 2 CDs with AC3 sound would be also nice. But there are no issues about the quality…

Bree, a pre-operative, male-to-female transsexual, holds down two jobs and saves every penny so that she can pay for one last operation that will make her a woman at last. One day, however, she receives a strange phone call. It appears that on the other side is Toby, apparently her son, who must be the product of a somewhat clumsy sexual encounter years ago when she was a man. He stays in New York, incarcerated. Bree flies from Los Angeles to New York in order to get the boy out of jail. At first she is reluctant to do so, but her therapist convinces her to face up to her past. The boy is handed over to her without a word of explanation and Toby believes the woman to be some Christian missionary determined to convert reprobates to Jesus; Bree sees no reason to clear up the misunderstanding. However, she finds out that the boy just wants to escape from her and hitchhike to Los Angeles. She persuades him to accompany her back to the west coast–secretly planning to leave him at his stepfather’s along the way. Toby is happy to take her up on her offer.

Movie piracy worth $6.1 billion last year

The MPAA released its first comprehensive study of movie piracy late Tuesday, estimating that the major studios lost $6.1 billion last year to bootlegging, illegal copying and Internet piracy. China, Russia, the U.K., France, Spain, Brazil, Italy, Poland and Mexico were the countries where piracy was more prevalent, the MPAA said. The study also found that the average movie pirate is male, age 16-24, and lives in an urban area.

Anyway, MPAA is not laying down their arms – MPAA chairman and CEO Dan Glickman said: We are calling on governments internationally to continue to work with us in limiting the impact of piracy on local economies and the film industry. Movies are a valuable product, and intellectual property must be respected. This study will help us better analyze and focus our efforts to fight movie theft.” MPAA’s effort which escalated into shutdown of world’s biggest eMule server Razorback2 hadn’t have huge impact on file sharers – actually, absolutely nothing has changed and p2p traffic is still increasing. Have you already downloaded some new movie for today? ;)

MS starts with adCenter, AdWords competitor

Microsoft said Thursday that it has rolled out its self-serve advertising program adCenter across all its U.S. search queries, a year after the program was first announced. The company hopes that the switch would help to increase advertising revenue, as well as compete more directly with Google in the race for advertising dollars. The program is still being deployed internationally, with the service already serving ads in France and Singapore. Testing in the U.K. is slated to begin in June. Microsoft claims that most of the advertisers who have participated in the beta have seen better conversion rates, which is a good measure of success in advertising.

Microsoft said it will continue to evolve adCenter to become a one-stop shop for advertisers to buy search, contextual or display ads across Microsoft’s online sites including Windows Live Mail, Windows Live Spaces, Windows Live Safety Center, Windows Live for Mobile, Office Live, Office Online and the Xbox website. The service will also let advertisers track their ad campaign performance. Althoug this is quite an important event in advertising branch, I’ll still stick to Google’s AdWords, which performs like a great tool for online advertising. I do not put too much money into ads, and also don’t earn millions of dollars, but there’s nothing wrong I could say about AdWords. It’s not important whether you live in India or the USA, you will find many satisfied customers with this advertising opportunity for affordable prices…
