The retail DVDRip of 10,000 BC is finally here after a long wait, but the movie isn’t all that great so get this if you haven’t seen it yet. Not much to say about the movie as you either like if you’re into prehistoric thing, or you don’t :mrgreen:

Quality: Its a pretty typical DiAMOND rip, 608×256 video with a bitrate of 742kbit/s and MP3 159kbit/s audio. As usual, the English, Spanish, and French array of subs is included.

Update: NeDiVx is mislabeled R5, not retail

A prehistoric epic that follows a young mammoth hunter named D’Leh’s journey through uncharted territory to secure the future of his tribe. When a band of mysterious horse-riding warlords raid the Yaghal camp and kidnaps his heart’s desire – the beautiful Evolet along with many others, D’Leh is forced to lead a small group of hunters south to pursue the warlords to the end of the world to save her. Driven by destiny, the unlikely band of warriors must battle saber-toothed cats and terror birds in the Levant.

    I saw this at the movies and liked it. Seen plenty worse films, not sure why it gets uber-crap press really, it’s OK. Average at worst i’d say.

    NeDiVx’s 2 CD retail version is much better, with higher video bitrate and 384 Kbps 5.1 AC3 sound. This, DiAMOND’s 1 CD version isn’t even close to that quality.

    If you already have NeDiVx version, leave this be.

    i found this very, very dissapointing. it had a decent budget but it lacked in special effects and the story itself was mediocre at best.

    I really hate it when that happens specially on 2Disc Movie Release (1.4G) because it really take me a lot of time to finish that download. Yeah, my connection sucks but thats what I have T_T…

    Wiz, you probably don’t have the ac3 codec installed on your computer. go to ac3filter.net and install the ac3filter…volume might sound low to start with but you can open the filter and adjust it. that should fix your no sound problem.

    How can you people that scream for quality not realise from watching and listening to NeDiVx release that the audio was from a mono handicap audio Jack. The backqround music, mostly string instrumental sounded like it was recorded on cassette and was playing with varying speeds. To prove this watch the end of the movie the sound will go from what I described to a full even sound in the middel of the ending credits. They take the beginning and end audio from the R5, region 5 russian dvd where there is no dialog and add that in. The Picture video quality of most region 5 releases is excelent, studios do tend to polish up the video for american dvd’s but not always. The audio in NeDiVx’s release was reencoded with ac3 but the source was not there. It was a trick.

    diamond’s quality is just degrading everyday!!

    their 1 CD (aXXo style) pre’s are just plain disgusting!!

    the iNTERNAL XviD releases are way better, i don’t even bother with XviD anymore because of the way DiAMOND trainwrecks them

    how can you appreciate anymovie with a bitrate of only 700kbps? i mean give me a break!! give us @least 1000+ and give us some better sound as well!!

    DiAMOND imo is trying to replace aXXo! I don’t know this is just my opinion. take it or leave it!

    Its cool if you guys want more bitrate, thats what the dvdr is for. Plus Diamond generally has the most efficient guys doing the encoding. They use variable bit rate, for example dialog scenes where frame after frame there is little movement encoding process can dip real low and have excellent quality and in action scenes you will see the bitrate jump to over 1000. Needed there because major movement from frame to frame. Maximinzing encoding profile for maximum quality and efficency size is what made Diamond famous. A less experienced encoder could make this a 2cd release and there could be a good chance that the quality would be no better. that is the whole idea of a 1cd release. Theree are pro’s and cons in everything. Everyone should d/l a dvdr of their favorite movie and try ripping it various ways, it opens your eyes that Diamond knows what they are doing.

    What the f… is up with Diamond? All those crappy 1 CD rips are making my eyes hurt! It looks like aXXo took over Diamond and imposed his low quality standards on them…

    I’ll stick to the NeDiVx, even is the audio is supposed to be bad (it isn’t by the way). Use your ears instead of tech-info.

    Finally an adult comment! There is nothing wrong with aXXo style rips. Some of yous desperately need to stop viewing your colons from the inside. aXXo style rips are a boon for people who just want to watch a movie on their pc with pc speakers. They tend do exactly what they say on the tin.

    Sure if there’s a choice I’ll go for the All Singing, All Dancing Scene style rip but all I want to do is WATCH THE BLOODY FILM! Having ripped a few myself I know realise just how much effort goes into it and that in some ways it is still more art than science.

    Anyone that doesn’t think the NeDIVX is a mislabled R5 needs to get their ears checked. I thought something was wrong as it sounded the same as the official R5 audio did. The audio was just bad on the NeDIVX version.
