Group BaLD released a pretty decent R5 rip of a very popular adventurous movie 10 000 BC literally few minutes ago. This is major improvement in the terms of quality, as the latest available version was still just a crappy cam. The movie itself isn’t such a bomb as expected, but it’s still a nice flick to watch. Check the samples and get ready to start your download!

From director Roland Emmerich (”Independence Day,” “The Day After Tomorrow”) comes a sweeping odyssey into a mythical age of prophesies and gods, when spirits rule the land and mighty mammoths shake the earth. In a remote mountain tribe, the young hunter D’Leh (Steven Strait) has found his heart’s passion - the beautiful Evolet (Camilla Belle). But when a band of mysterious warlords raid his village and kidnap Evolet, D’Leh leads a small group of hunters to pursue the warlords to the end of the world to save her.

    I converted this to DVD w/ convertxtodvd, on medium settings, and it IS a little of sync (convertxtodvd supposedly has a sync-fixer) but even on medium quality conversion, the sound and video are crisp. I would expect a proper though, even though this is OK for the movie that it is.. ;)

    Quite a watchable R5. Sound left a bit to be desired, and it was imperceptably out of sync (must have been the muxing process), but overall great. a/v 5/8

    Good movie, too, quite hokey at some points, and the journey they took made no sense (from mammoth territory to tropical jungle back to desert). Great for a bit of mindless fun. 8/10

    Glad I waited for the R5 (not that any of the cams that came out were remotely watchable).

    Thanks for the english subs, but none of them are sync with this R5 version. I guess they come from the CAM version and were perfectly sync…
    But the R5 DVDs have a different FPS (25FPS instead of 23,976 for the US), and give consequently a progressive “out of sync” subtitle through the film.
    Changing it doesn’t work on “amateur subs” (I never really understood why?)… But anyway, for a good synchronization of the subtitle, it needs to done again line by line unfortunatelly. :(

    I will probably watch the film without them, and wait for the Zone 1 DVD the 24th of June…

    Non-existent character development, stumbling plot, ridiculous leaps of credibility (multicultural communes in a time when people would have killed someone who looked different from their tribe in an instant, perfect teeth millennia before dentistry etc etc), mediocre at best special effects. Seriously, a prime example of a film made for the lowest common denominator, i.e. cretins like the above who can’t even spell douche properly. I loved films like 300 that were derided as dumb, but this is just moronic; a film made for the even more stupid than the MTV generation generation.

    i do give the movie credit for having men wit hairy arm pits, you dont see that much realism anymore in hollywood movies. but i think that was about the only historically correct aspect of the movie.

    If the audio is out of sync, VLC is your best bet.

    Use “Ctrl + K” or “Ctrl + L” to change the sync settings.
